These are a personal suggestion of good sites to visit, any other ideas are very welcome. The content of other sites may vary from standards you consider appropriate.

There are two sites with pictures outside Wiltshire, but which are well worth a visit; photographs of Singapore following the Japanese occupation at http://www.geocities.com/lesfil2000/, and guided tours of Winchester and Oxford at http://home.clara.net/reedhome/.

Several local sites have excellent pictures and detailed information about Wiltshire. These include Chris Franklin's Devizes based site and Strum's site, which looks at local travel, history, music and the internet. Some good pictures of Salisbury are at historyatlarge. There is a wealth of information, and numerous other sites, at This is Wiltshire.For something a little different see Margaret Roberts textile art. Genealogy and much more at Moonrakers. There are over a hundred atmospheric pictures of Wiltshire, and 700,000 of other places, at Foto Search Image Library.

There are good sites at Wadworths Brewery and Wiltshire Follies. A virtual tour of the Barge Inn at Honeystreet can be made at Weird Wilts. Most of what you need to know about the canal is at the Kennet & Avon Canal Trust,.

For books on Wiltshire see the excellent local publishers Forward Publications and Ex Libris Press. A valuable source of information on the White Horses is at Wiltshire White Horses. The life of Vortigern, his links to the Wansdyke and the history of the post-Roman era, are at vortigernstudies. To see the local historic buildings visit Images of England, a website which will eventually carry a photograph of each listed building in England. The Vale of Pewsey was home to the Springfords and Springbatts, details on their family website. Another local family are the Swansbroughs who can be found at Bonnie’s World. If you have family connections with Wiltshire a good start to research is the website of the Wiltshire Family History Society. There is more genealogical information on the Wiltshire pages of Genuki. Mandy and Duncan Ball have a family research website with 16,000 photographs of Wiltshire churches, as well as much other valuable information. As well, as a part of Wiltshire, the Vale of Pewsey is also a wine growing area of Australia; it was named by Joseph Gilbert, formerly of Puckshipton, details at Eden Springs.
